Read excerpts from Stephen Crane’s novel The Red Badge of Courage, Chapter 5
and Louisa May Alcott’s book Little Women, Chapter 15, A Telegram.

Goals

  2. Develop skills to discuss and analyze a story and make visual images that illustrate the provided readings.

  1. What do you know about the Civil War?
  2. What important events took place during the Civil War?
  3. Who were important people in the Civil War and what did they do?
  4. What problems addressed during the Civil War do we still confront today?

Students read and analyze the scene from Chapter 5 in Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage.
