A Spectacular Super Solar Eclipse Viewing Party!

Dear Friend of the HRM,

The Total Solar Eclipse is a day we will not soon forget. Our Super Solar Eclipse Viewing Party was an amazing and joyous occasion, not just because of the once-in-a-lifetime celestial event, but because of all of you who chose to celebrate together at the Hudson River Museum. Thank you for making this a truly spectacular day. We were thrilled to greet longtime HRM Members as well as many first-time visitors from multiple states who gathered in our Courtyard to look through solar telescopes, learn about the progress and science behind the eclipse, take photos in front of our eclipse backdrop, and enjoy the music and each other’s company. Please enjoy a wonderful selection of photos.

Our event on Monday, April 8 was the culmination of weeks of special events celebrating the Total Solar Eclipse, including in-person talks with former NASA astronaut Ron Garan. Our eclipse events were extensively covered by national and local media, including on News 12, CBS News, Good Day New York, and in the New York Post and The Journal News!

Although the eclipse is now over, the best part about science is that it happens every day and all year long. We invite you to return to the HRM to experience our Planetarium, which offers star shows every Saturday and Sunday at 12:30, 2, and 3:30pm; to our Family Science Workshops such as Spring Micro-Safari; and to explore interdisciplinary exhibitions including Rivers Flow / Artists Connect and Meet Me at the River.

Don’t forget! HRM Members get unlimited free admission to our Planetarium, galleries, and Glenview historic home, so if you’re not an HRM Member yet, you can join here or give it as a gift.

I’d like to give special thanks to our sponsors who made our eclipse-related programs possible. We are immensely grateful to Governor Kathy Hochul for her leadership in New York State, and the Market New York grant awarded to the Hudson River Museum of Westchester from Empire State Development and I LOVE NY/New York State’s Division of Tourism through the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. Thank you as well to Betsy May Stern, Yolanda F. Johnson, Christina O’Neill, and Orange Bank & Trust Company, who supported our programs featuring Ron Garan. And last but not least, thank you to Sound Associates for their support of the Super Solar Eclipse Viewing Party.

While the Sun and the Moon took center stage, the real stars of the day were all of you!

From everyone at HRM,

Masha Turchinsky
Director & CEO
