Guy Gilette’s photographs reveal the eye of an artist, constantly alert to the nuances and possibilities around him. The iconic Modernist photographer Edward Steichen recognized Gilette’s talent and included his work in the Museum of Modern Art’s landmark 1955 exhibition, The Family of Man. Many of his photographs were originally taken to accompany magazine articles in Fortune, Life and The New York Times Magazine. Gillette’s finest images have a personal engagement that transcends the topical concerns of photojournalism. As a longtime resident of Yonkers with two sons in the local public schools, he brought a heartfelt connection to his annual visits to document the students and teachers in their classes.
