Friends of the Planetarium

Become a Friend of the Planetarium, the only public venue of its kind in Westchester County, and help to inspire new generations of stargazers, scientists—and future astronauts!

The Friends of the Planetarium support the Museum’s state-of-the-art, all-digital Planetarium. It is a popular attraction for visiting school children and the general public, with an Ohira-Tech Megastar II star projector that projects up to 20 million stars. With a 120-seat capacity, the Planetarium presents three star shows every Saturday and Sunday at 12:30, 2, and 3:30pm, and serves as the venue for Music Under the Dome live concerts, laser shows, and more.

Our partners in programming include leaders in astronomy and space innovation such as NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies at Columbia University, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, and Space Angels.

As a Friend of the Planetarium you will be invited to an exclusive annual celestial event with Marc Taylor, Manager of Planetarium and Science Programs, who will guide you through the galaxies in a special star show and reception.

Each Friend of the Planetarium has the opportunity to name one of our brand new seats under the dome, where you can honor a space enthusiast, celebrate a loved one, or give a gift to the person who has (nearly) everything. Each seat is adorned with a commemorative plaque for a period of three years, with the right of first refusal to renew.

Participation begins with an annual gift of $2,500. In addition to your chair, your gift will be recognized on our Annual Donor Board and Our Supporters page.
