Día de Muertos Community Altar
Celebrate Día de Muertos at the HRM by contributing to our community altar, or ofrenda, honoring loved ones who have passed. From October 17 through November 1, you are invited to place a photograph of a departed loved one on the ofrenda (copies of photographs are preferable). If you are unable to participate in person, you may email a photo to Pedro Betanzos at pbetanzos@hrm.org.
Celebrated on November 1 and 2, Día de Muertos is a tradition with deep roots in Mexico that honors and remembers loved ones who have died. November 1, often known as Día de los Inocentes, honors children who have passed, while November 2, known as Día de Todos Santos, is traditionally a day for families to remember departed relatives, including by visiting and decorating their graves.
This year’s ofrenda is created by Xochiquetzal.
