Trick or treat at the HRM! Explore our haunted historic home on a Gothic Glenview Tour, contribute to our Dia de Muertos community altar, learn about the stars in our spooky planetarium show, create origami jack-o’-lanterns and sugar skull masks to take home in our Family Art Workshops, and meet some scaly friends at our live reptile program! Come in costume and receive candy throughout the weekend.

Come celebrate Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a special holiday meant to celebrate death and life, when mourning is transformed into celebration. Participate in our community altar, or ofrenda, all weekend by bringing photos of departed loved ones; we recommend bringing copies of pictures to leave at the Museum. Ofrendas are believed to encourage visits from the departed souls as they hear their prayers, smell the food, and join the celebration.

The ofrenda will be on view Thursday–Sunday, October 26–29. If you are unable to make it to the Museum in person and would like your loved one represented on our ofrenda, please email a photo to pbetanzos@hrm.org.
