Celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop in workshops led by Yonkers-based artist Evan Bishop that are designed to be accessible to audiences of different abilities, ages, and skill levels (as seen in I LOVE NY). Learn about the history of the genre and its impact on global pop culture. Then, create a nonviolent superhero in your own image and produce an original comic book cover, from the drawing to the lettering.

This series will form the basis for an upcoming exhibition in the Museum’s new Community and Partnership Gallery. Videographer Denzel Walters will capture the creative process in real time for a documentary to accompany the exhibition.

This program is part of #HRMBlackHistoryMonth.
