Enjoy an engaging program of live music and cultural discovery with renowned sarod artist Satyaki Dutta and tabla artist Ranendra Das, who will bring the beauty, rhythm, and energy of traditional Indian music to audiences of all ages in the West Wing Galleries.

Satyaki Dutta is a distinguished sarod artist who represents the prominent instrumental lineage of Shahjahanpur Gharana and aims to foster a greater awareness and appreciation of Raga, the melodic framework for improvisation in Indian classical music, among both Indian and global audiences. The sarod, a North Indian classical instrument from the lute family, traces its history back to the rabab of Afghanistan. Characterized by its fretless metal fingerboard, the sarod features eight main strings and fifteen sympathetic strings, producing a deep, resonant tone that is both lyrical and percussive.

Ranendra Das is a musician, teacher, and the founder of PARA Academy of Music and Arts. He has performed the tabla professionally since 1996 in such venues as Madison Square Garden, Symphony Space, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and for President Obama at the MLK Memorial Dedication in Washington, DC.
