Mosaics Workshop: Exquisite Creature Creation

Learn how to translate the vibrant colors, patterns, and compositions of Exquisite Creatures into mosaic art. Led by artist Kristin Javier, explore the exhibition as a source of inspiration, then reinterpret natural forms through the historic techniques of Byzantine mosaic. This three-hour, hands-on workshop is open to adults and teens ages 13+. Instruction available in Spanish and Italian. Advance registration is recommended.

Kristin Javier is a self-taught mosaicist and sculptor based in the Hudson Valley and the Rio Grande Valley of northern New Mexico. She has studied Roman and Byzantine art in Ravenna, Italy, and mosaic art at the Chicago Mosaic School. More recently, she has continued her studies with artists Debra Fritts in Abiquiú, New Mexico, and Dana Parlier at Artscape Atelier in Ardsley, New York.
