Afro-Peruvian Ensemble (Amphitheater 2024)

This all-star band, directed by drummer Hector Morales, brings you the joyful sounds and rhythms of the Peruvian coast with a contemporary treatment that is rooted in tradition. Composed of singer-dancer Mariela Valencia, percussionists Cesar and Hector Ferreyra, guitarist Eric Kurimiski, violinist Ali Bello, and Latin Grammy Award–winning bassist Pedro Giraudo, the ensemble’s repertoire includes classics of the Afro-Peruvian folklore such as festejos, zamacuecas, landos, contrapunto de zapateo (tap dancing), and contrapuntos de Cajones.
This program is part of the 2024 Summer Amphitheater Series. Doors open at 7:30pm. No reservations required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking is available.
