Explore the depth and power of portraiture in a hands-on workshop with artist Madge Scott. Learn how it can be used to communicate ideas, evoke emotions, reflect the climate of the historical period in which it was created, and effect social change. Explore works in Art and Identity: Highlights from the Collection of the HRM and Art Bridges, among others, through the perspective of artist Madge Scott. Then, create your own self-portrait in a hands-on workshop.

A self-taught artist, Scott’s work focuses on portraiture. She is a member of RiverArts and the Blue Door Art Center in Yonkers. Scott is also a motivational speaker and spiritual writer who was s presented with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Humanitarian Award in 2013.

Support provided by Art Bridges.
