Join Professor Diego Torre Cuevas live in the HRM Courtyard for a special presentation of traditional costumes from Oaxaca, one of the states in southern Mexico. Oaxaca has a bright folk culture that includes handmade textile traditions. Dresses worn by celebrants of the Guelaguetza Festival, held annually in July, will be modeled by dancers from Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Nueva York. Two traditional costumes from Oaxaca, the home of Frida Kahlo’s maternal ancestors, will also be on view as a special preview of the upcoming exhibition, World of Frida, which will be on view at the Museum February–May 2022.

The program will be in Spanish with simultaneous English translation. Recommended for ages 18+.
