Susan Hall’s Moving Home takes on new meaning in these times of sheltering-in-place. Rather than moving from home to another place, we are staying home to live, work, and survive. According to Hall, her painting references “the ‘home’ inside all of us which we are always seeking, leaving, journeying to or exploring.”

We invite you to join artist Teresa Pereira for this virtual pre-recorded workshop in which she’ll demonstrate how to create a collage inspired by Susan Hall’s striking 1978 painting. It requires simple materials: scissors; glue; black Sharpie or any fine-tipped black marker; drawing paper (11 × 14″ or smaller); crayons (Crayola’s box of 24 works well but any will do); and construction paper. Download templates for the helicopter and house for you to print and use here.

The video will be published on our Art Projects page as part of Museum from Home on Friday, August 7 at 6pm.
