February may be one of the coldest months of the year, but it’s neither as cold as it used to be, nor anywhere near the coldest the universe has to offer. Explore the strange world of low temperatures in a workshop and demonstration that will cover the history of cutting and trading ice on the Hudson, the unusual properties of dry ice, and even cryovolcanism, where volcanoes and geysers erupt with liquid nitrogen instead of molten rock—something we’ll have to leave Earth to explore.

Recommended for all ages. The program will be held outdoors in the courtyard, weather permitting.
