The Flying Cloud and the Star-Filled Sky
Across the oceans, lit by a shimmering moon and stars guiding its path, the clipper ship Flying Cloud set sail on its maiden voyage from New York Harbor to San Francisco during the gold rush in the summer of 1851.
Based on a true tale, Spring Training Productions’ live radio play, in collaboration with the HRM Planetarium, invites you to experience the journey through the inquisitive eyes of its youngest passenger, 10-year-old Edward Bowman. As the Flying Cloud earns her name, completing the voyage at a record-setting pace, Edward hears legends of the constellations, learns celestial navigation, witnesses a lunar eclipse, and finds that the world is not quite as large as he once thought.
Please note, this event will replace the 3:30pm planetarium show on Saturday, May 11.
