Admission Registration required

Enjoy this STEM challenge and create an aircraft. A hoop glider is a homemade paper aircraft that uses the four forces of flight to fly, much like a paper airplane. Curved surfaces on top of the glider help generate lift. An aerodynamic shape reduces drag. Gravity pulls the glider toward the ground and your arm provides thrust!

Supplies required: printer or construction paper, tape, and a drinking straw or bamboo skewer. Don’t have these at home? Stop by the Museum and ask for a “STEM packet” at the Front Desk any Thursday through Sunday prior to December 28, 12–5pm, while supplies last. One packet per child, please.
