Pedro Betanzos, New Manager of Youth and Family Programs

Hudson River Museum is pleased to announce that Pedro Betanzos is the HRM’s new Manager of Youth and Family Programs, after serving as Interim Manager since December 2021. As a former Junior Docent himself, and bilingual in English and Spanish, Pedro brings an important community perspective to his work and a clear understanding of the accomplishments and potential of the Program.

Pedro is a graduate of Riverside High School in Yonkers, New York, and a lifelong member of the Yonkers community. His fifteen-year career at the Hudson River Museum started in 2007 when he joined the Junior Docent Program as a middle school student. Following his graduation from the Program in 2012, he went on to receive his BS from Manhattanville College in 2016, in Business Management with a double minor in Psychology and Marketing. Pedro continued to work at the HRM as a Visitor Services Associate and a Science Educator.

As Interim Manager, Pedro shepherded more than 60 Junior Docents in the Program and supervised the delivery of Family Programs, including navigating the changing protocols and uncertainties of the pandemic. He has provided a consistent presence for our teens, steadily guiding them while following the Junior Docent syllabus, arranging for virtual and in-person college visits, working with the Teaching Artist-in-Residence on training sessions for Family Studio Art Workshops, and implementing Family Programs.

Pedro is working closely with the Junior Docents this spring on preparations for School’s Out, Stars Are In, teen-led gallery tours, and our annual Teen Night, while envisioning new initiatives and working closely with the Education Department.

Please join us in congratulating Pedro on his new role at the HRM.
