Hudson River Museum Named “Best Art Gallery” in 2025 Best of Westchester Awards
YONKERS, NY, July 8, 2025—The Hudson River Museum is proud to announce we have won a Best of Westchester award for the eighth consecutive year. For 2025, the Museum has been awarded the Readers’ Picks for Best Art Gallery. Best of Westchester is Westchester Magazine’s annual survey of the best that Westchester has to offer, from food and drink, beauty and shopping, to fun and leisure.
“All of us at the Hudson River Museum are thrilled to once again be named a Best of Westchester winner,” stated Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky. “We are especially proud to be recognized eight years in a row. This year’s award for Best Art Gallery demonstrates that our visitors appreciate the variety and quality of art we are committed to presenting at the HRM. Our current exhibition, Smoke in Our Hair: Native Memory and Unsettled Time, lauded as a New York Times Critic’s Pick is a fitting example of bringing the best to our community.”
Smoke in Our Hair, curated by Sháńdíín Brown (Diné), highlights some of the most influential Native artists working over the last sixty years, drawing from the collections of Art Bridges, the Forge Project, and the Gochman Family Collection. The exhibition explores the nuanced layering of past, present, and future in works by twenty-two artists—Native American, Alaska Native, First Nations, and Métis—who carry forward the artistic lineages of their ancestors while simultaneously sparking new visions of the future. This exhibition will be on view at the HRM through August 31, 2025.
We are also excited for the start of our Summer Amphitheater Series, with FREE performances on Friday evenings, July 11–August 8, at 8pm. There’s something for everyone, including live jazz, tap dance, afro-latin fusion, and even a falconer ready to share the natural wonders of birds of prey. Plus, explore all our exhibitions this summer during special extended hours. Join us for Free First Fridays the first Friday evening of every month for free admission, special performances and programs, including a Karaoke and Game Night (July 11), and Yoga & Art (August 1). We will also be offering special extended hours this summer every Friday from 5–7pm, July 11–August 8. Enjoy outdoor games in the courtyard and catch The Sky Tonight planetarium show at 6pm.
