Hudson River Museum Presents Teens Seen: Art Showcase
YONKERS, NY, June 8, 2026—The Hudson River Museum is thrilled to present Teens Seen: Art Showcase, which will be on view from June 12–October 4, 2026. This exhibition features artwork by more than 80 students from 16 high schools throughout Westchester County, highlighting the complexity and diversity of teen experiences through art. Chosen by art teachers, the wide range of work across diverse media—from paintings and drawings to vector illustrations, lino prints, and cyanotypes—showcases the talent of these emerging artists, as well as the importance of high school art programs.
The artworks reveal the depth, tension, and nuance of young adulthood—emphasizing that teenage life is not “easy,” “dramatic,” or “just a phase”—it’s layered, contradictory, and deeply felt. The artworks reveal the many pressures teens are balancing in their lives, from societal and social media expectations about appearance to maintaining positive mental health while staying engaged as global citizens and family members. The exhibition includes a creative activity that invites visitors to draw their own picture and reflect about what it means to be truly seen.
Participating schools: Bronxville High School, Eastchester High School, German International School New York, Hackley School, Harrison High School, Hastings-on-Hudson High School, John Jay High School, Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School, Maria Regina High School, The Masters School, Pleasantville High School, Riverside High School, Robert Halmi Sr. Academy of Film and Television, Roosevelt High School, Saunders Trades and Technical High School, and Yonkers High School.
Masha Turchinsky, Anita K. Hersh Director and CEO, says: “At the Hudson River Museum, we believe teens deserve opportunities to explore new ideas, discover their creativity, and see themselves reflected in meaningful cultural experiences. We are thrilled to welcome students to this exhibition and encourage them to take advantage of free weekend admission for all Westchester County high school students—a new initiative made possible through the generosity of the Anita K. Hersh Philanthropic Fund. By removing barriers to access, we hope to inspire the next generation of artists, thinkers, and leaders.”
Assistant Curator Shilpi Chandra states, “Together, these works offer an unfiltered view of adolescence today—inviting us to look more closely, listen more carefully, and take seriously the perspectives of the next generation of artists. It was a privilege to collaborate with passionate art educators from across Westchester who inspire student creativity daily.”
The Teens Seen exhibition, installation, and gallery activities were developed in collaboration with the Junior Docent Advisory Board, a group of thirteen highly-motivated young leaders that are a part of the HRM’s award-winning Junior Docent Program, an afterschool teen leadership and workforce development program that serves more than 80 students from public high schools throughout Yonkers.
HRM Junior Docent Leika Isaac, Class of 2027, who worked on the exhibition, stated, “Teens Seen celebrates and gives voice to today’s youth, displaying art in all forms, from acrylic artwork to modern digital expression. Partnering with the HRM staff, it was exciting to see firsthand how a gallery can be transformed into something truly immersive and engaging. I hope it leaves visitors with something meaningful and lasting.”
This exhibition is supported in part by a generous gift from the Anita K. Hersh Philanthropic Fund and 2025 Bridgemaker Prize awarded to the Hudson River Museum from the Art Bridges Foundation.
