Kick off the Year of the Dragon with traditional Asian arts, crafts, demonstrations, and performances for all ages! Festivities begin with the colorful ceremonial lion dance. Make dragon drums and dragon puppets in our Family Art Workshops, and learn the art of origami (paper folding). Enjoy performances of Chinese folk dances, Indonesian gamelan music and dance, and a demonstration of the ancient art of tai chi. A samulnori piece by the New York Korean Performing Arts Center youth group rounds out the afternoon’s program. At 2pm, enjoy a special showing of The Sky Tonight: The Skylore of China that features traditional Chinese constellations.

Workshops and performances are free with general admission. Planetarium shows and tours of Glenview are ticketed. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance. See here for a full list of available tickets.

Programs for Lunar New Year have been generously sponsored, in part, by Anita K. Hersh Philanthropic Foundation.

Special thanks to our community partners, the OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates, Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter, and the Greenburgh Evergreen Club, a Chinese senior organization based at the Theodore Young Community Center.
