Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky Named New York Trailblazer in Arts & Culture and Westchester Power 100

Big news! Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky has been recognized by City & State New York with two prestigious awards: Westchester Power 100 and New York Trailblazers in Arts & Culture.

This is the inaugural year for the Trailblazers in Arts & Culture award, which highlights individuals who are crafting the next chapter of New York’s multifaceted cultural story. The list includes more than 50 leaders of major arts institutions, mid-sized organizations, and smaller startups, as well as a range of social services nonprofits, education organizations, and philanthropists that are all contributing to New York’s arts output.

“I am deeply honored to receive this Arts & Culture Trailblazer recognition on behalf of the Hudson River Museum,” stated Masha Turchinsky. “This award shines not on one person, but on the collective efforts of our board, staff, supporters, and community—each a spark in the constellation that makes the HRM glow. At a time when the world can feel very divided, the Museum strongly stands as an essential convener—a gathering ground where the arts, creativity, and curiosity invite us to discover our shared humanity. I celebrate my fellow honorees and extend thanks to everyone who helps the Hudson River Museum chart new paths of imagination, wonder, and understanding. Let’s take it to the next level together!”

In October, City & State announced the Westchester Power 100, recognizing Masha Turchinsky as one of the key power brokers in the County, among politicians, business CEOs, hospital executives, university presidents, nonprofit leaders, and other movers and shakers. City & State writes:

“Few people in New York go to work every day at a Gilded Age mansion, but Masha Turchinsky knows how fortunate she is to promote Westchester’s best-kept secret. After two decades leading projects at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Turchinsky became head of the Hudson River Museum in 2016. She has since spearheaded the $11 million extension of its West Wing, which opened in 2023. This year, the museum’s exhibits featured Indigenous art from North America, photographs of the Hudson River and an astronomy program for adults.”

Please join us in congratulating Masha and the entire HRM team, Board of Trustees, volunteers, supporters, members, and visitors for making the Hudson River Museum thrive as a vibrant catalyst and convener of art, science, history, and community connection. Together, we make a powerful impact!
